Andy McKee
Benaroya Hall, Seattle, WA
12.11.14
Self-made guitar man Andy McKee visited Seattle on Thursday night, surrounding himself with the heavy wood and brass of the symphony stage and a couple thousand faces who were eager to see the magic with their own eyes. Benaroya Hall came to a breathless hush, as Andy McKee picked out the powerful first notes of “Common Ground.” The stage held two guitars and a table, on top of which stood a single bottle of water. McKee sat bent over his guitar, intertwined not only with the strings, but equally engaged with the crowd. He seemed genuinely happy during each song, and interacted playfully with the audience. Applauding at the announcement of each song, it was apparent that McKee has built a loyal, enthusiastic fan base. He played a total of 18 songs, finishing the evening with a cover of Michael Hedges’ “Aerial Boundaries.”
