Sheryl Crow w/ James Coates
Chateau Ste Michelle, Woodinville, WA

The depth of Sheryl Crow’s back catalog was on full display during her stop at the picturesque Chateau Ste Michelle winery, where a sold out crowd full of wineglass toting sophisticates relaxed on the lawn to take in the show. Crow is certainly no newbie to the music industry, having released her debut full length Tuesday Night Music Club twenty-two years ago and since earned herself nine Grammy Awards. She took to the stage with zero fuss, backed by a six person band, looking as effervescent as ever with her long blonde hair and stacked heels.
Crow’s latest release, 2013’s Feels Like Home, has been marketed as her first country album, but as she worked her way through songs new and old, her voice carrying a lilting twang, you get the sense that there is country in her blood. Opening her set with “Maybe Angels” from her self-titled sophomore release and moving through hits like “My Favorite Mistake” and the classic “Steve McQueen,” Crow seemed extra personable. She shared stories of her songs’ origins and her personal history, laughing and chatting with the crowd like it was a friendly backyard barbecue.
Inspiration from Walt Whitman to being dumped, and human kindness to staycation parenting adventures came out of the woodwork as Crow gave a polished performance. Her captivating storytelling and clear voice were completely captivating, as always.
Local opener James Coates came out with a solid set, heartfelt and folksy, his acoustic guitar jams were on point.
