August Burns Red w/ The Devil Wears Prada and Bleed From Within
Showbox SoDo, Seattle, WA
The anticipation for August Burns Red’s 20th anniversary tour was high, and it was clear that the Seattle metal community was ready to celebrate the sold out show at the Showbox SoDo. With openers The Devil Wears Prada and Bleed From Within, the night promised to be nothing short of epic.
The first band to grace the stage was Bleed From Within, and they did not disappoint. With chugging riffs and relentless percussion, their set was a true testament to the power of modern metal. It was the first time the Scottish band had toured the U.S and they were as excited as the fans to be playing here finally.
Next up was The Devil Wears Prada, who took the stage with confidence and ferocity. Their set was a perfect blend of old favorites and new material, with vocalist Mike Hranica commanding the audience with his intense stage presence. As they played fan-favorites like “Born To Lose,” “Danger: Wildman,” and “Sacrifice,” the crowd sang along and moshed with reckless abandon. The Devil Wears Prada proved once again that they are one of the most exciting bands in modern metal who are close to the 20 year milestone themselves.
Finally, it was time for August Burns Red to take the stage. From the moment they appeared, the crowd erupted into a sea of bodies, all thrashing and head banging to the band’s signature sound. August Burns Red have been a staple of the metal scene for two decades now, and it was clear that they had not lost any of their energy or passion over the years.
The stage lights flashed faster quickly making the band look like stop motion movie on stage. Lasers wized over head across the whole room. The intensity of each song could be seen and hear.
Their set included classics like “Composure,” “Meddler,” and “Marianas Trench,” as well as new songs like “Ancestry” and “Backfire” off their upcoming new album, “Death Below”. Seeing August Burns Red do a 20th anniversary tour on the eve of their 10 album release is a testament to the bands legacy in the metal community.
The crowd sang along to every word, and the atmosphere was electric. Lead singer stood at the edge of the stage and toss swing his mic around. Lead guitarists JB and bassists Dustin Davidson headbang in unison while guitarist Brent Rambler kept everyone in rhythm. Drummer, Matt Greiner, was a highlight of the night during his encore drum solo.
The August Burns Red 20th anniversary tour was a night to remember. After two decades in the game and a new album on the way August Burns Red showed that they still have what it takes to dominate the metal scene. August Burns Red won’t be burning out anytime soon.
