Yungblud with Upsahl, Pouty Face
Showbox SoDo, Seattle, WA
03.12.2022

The show started with the entire stage blocked by a cloth screen. Projected onto the screen was Yungblud’s mouth talking to the crowd. Getting them amped for the show. Telling them he is about to give them everything he has and asking for them to jump, scream, and have the best show of their life. The screen dropped and there stood Yungblud with the biggest smile on his face as the crowd screamed in excitement right back. Getting right into the show with “Strawberry Lipstick” Yungblud would not stay in the same spot for more than a second. Running from one side of the stage to the other.

The fans screaming back every lyric as loud as they could. You could see the fans in the crowd enjoying the show as much as Yungblud. After the first song he just stood on the edge of the stage smiling back at the crowd as they screamed and not letting up for a second. Yungblud just keep smiling and laughing with enjoyment at how incredible the crowd was for a sold 2-3 minutes.

After the second song “Parents” two fans in the crowd had got engaged and people around them began cheering to which Yungblud heard and congratulated the two fans. Wishing them a happy life together.

Yungblud was like a little jack rabbit on stage as he jumped along to the beat of the music constantly. You could physically see the music moving through his body the entire night as his legs and arms move like they had a mind of their own. A truly entertaining performance. During the fourth song, “I Love You, Will You Marry Me”, he wield a guitar which you’d think would slow him down a little but seem to just the opposite.

The large stage was kept clear except for a drummer in the back corner stage right and guitarists on stage right. The entire back of the stage was a wall Marshall amps stacked 4 high and 5 across. The amps were modified and had lights on the inside that would like up and display different imagery.

Yungblud started the night dressed in tight leather pants, red button up shirt, and long sleeve under shirt. At one point he changed into a onesie with a skeleton printed on it. Kind of like Phoebe Bridgers vibe. His outfits were always a big statement of himself and these outfits were perfect for the Seattle show.

Yungblud’s unique blend of pop-punk, hip-hop, and youthful spunk is extremely entertaining to watch live. Nothing can compare to it seeing this young lad preform in person. The show in Seattle felt special and one of a kind. With Yungblud outlandish spirit on full display is something to witness first hand and we can’t wait to be able to do it again. Hopefully soon.

Before Yungblud, Upsahl took the stage. Had she not said she was from Arizona phoenix I would have thought she was from Seattle because she was the perfect Seattle grunge artists. Hair, clothes, and music. It all checked the box for that. Probably why she said Seattle was such a vibe. Her rock and grunge sound felt so at home on the rainy Seattle Saturday evening.

Opening the night was, Poutyface. Her hair was styled with two tall pigtails that she would thrash around the stage. Her song’s were a combination both whimsical and fast punk. Having fun but also being serious at the same time. Each song having a fun quirkinesses to them. Her final song of the night, Rag Doll, was by far her best song that also was her more serious and somber song. You could feel it in the way she was singing the lyrics that she was feeling something emotional as she was performing. At the end of the chorus she had entire crowd literally screaming “scream at the top of their lungs” in unison. It was a really raw and emotional way to end her set. Definitely left and impression on the crowd.
