Seattle four-piece Wild English are pumping out the jams this year, with the release of their second EP, Day Job Vu. The six-track album will bear two tracks from each of their three-headed vocal team, Elliot Jensen, Nelson Tift, and Corey Campbell, each of whom also wrangles the guitar. This arrangement, along with drummer Nick Biscardi, makes for a cohesive voice that feels both fresh and intimately familiar. They’re debuting the work at Ballard’s High Dive, December 17 with a little help from friends The Daisy Strains, The Shows, and The Regrets.
Wild English’s lo-fi party rock wavers between squints into the sun with disillusioned hangover eyes, and crawling back into the garage for a surfy post-punk dance party. It goes from swingy multi-part harmonies to grungy fuzz. It’s danceable in that anyone can move to it, in any way. Nod your head, shuffle your feet, pump your fist in the air occasionally, it’s all good as long as you’re having as much fun as the band.
