Youthful tastemakers Porter Robinson and Madeon are taking the North American circuit by storm with their “Shelter Live”
tour. They’re coming to Seattle this week to turn WaMu Theater into their own atmospheric, pop-centric playground. And you’re invited. After the August release of their co-produced single, “Shelter,” the two artists announced the buzz-inducing collaborative tour, and have been garnering praise at each stop.
Self-taught 24-year-old DJ, producer, and musician Porter Robinson has gone from teenage wunderkind to prestigious remixer of major artists in just a few short years. His debut 2014 album, Worlds, showcases his knack for listenable, atmospheric production. Meanwhile, the 22-year-old Madeon – née Hugo Pierre Leclercq – has made viral tracks look like literal child’s play with his own 2015 debut, Adventure, and collaborations with the likes of Mark Foster (Foster The People) and Passion Pit. Both artists have incredibly unique ways of bringing their electronic music to the mainstream, and a surprisingly cohesive partnership.
The twosome’s perfectly tuned tour features the artists at opposing ends of the stage, tossing tracks back and forth, and mashing up each other’s hits. They’ll likely take a deep dive into both their own work and that of others, with a hybrid of visuals, vocals, and musicianship that breaks the barriers of expectations. Expect an exhilarating performance, an enthusiastic crowd, and plenty of palpable chemistry. We hear it’s one for the ages. All of the ages.
