Pickwick w/ Young In The City
Tractor Tavern, Seattle, WA
10.31.16

Halloween brought the characters out, to Ballard’s Tractor Tavern, for “A Very Pickwick Halloween” featuring you know who and local rockers Young In The City.
YITC came on to the purple-lit stage with white make-up and black circles around the eyes, zombie rockstars to the max. However, their energy and spirit did not match their undead look. With two new members, they put on a solid set of no-nonsense rock n’ roll. Noah Gundersen had tremendous presence leading his crew of merry men through their brand of catchy, sometimes hard driving, rock n’roll. Supremely engaging and musically tight, catch YITC at a venue near you.
With the seals of the Empire and the Rebellion adorning the stage, the members of Pickwick came on stage as follows:
  • Galen Disston, vocals – Princess Leia
  • Garrett Parker, bass – Jawa
  • Michael Parker, guitar – Old Obi-Wan Kenobi
  • Cassady Lillstrom, keyboard – BB-8
  • Alex Westcoat, drums – Chewbacca (he committed to the costume and it must have been 100 degrees in there).

A concert to introduce new songs to the masses and give away cassettes of their EP Bruxas, one of Seattle’s most beloved bands used their force and put on a solid show. With new songs such as the White Stripes-like “Mother Superior,” and the very tender “Way You Are,” mixing pretty well into the cauldron of their classic hits “Hacienda Motel” and “Lady Luck,” the crowd was treated to a great cross-section of Pickwick’s past and future.

Disston continues to be one of Seattle’s best performers. His voice showed range and soul. With the backing of his solid supporting cast of musicians, Pickwick shows are a can’t-miss event. Their new music is incorporating different genres, leaning towards rock and soul. The evolution is exciting and the fans were really receptive to their new tunes. The future is bright and the force is with them.
