With the release of their 5-track debut EP, Critical Mistakes, Denver threesome 888 accentuate the importance of not giving up. The self-produced material explores the possibilities of blending musical genres into animated alt-pop.
The band members – front man Danny Stillman, keyboardist Aaron Rothe, and drummer Danny Cooper – were formerly part of metalcore act Drop Dead, Gorgeous, and their industry experience is clear. This new project showcases emotionally anthemic pop-punk vocals and synth-laden ambiance with irresistably catchy beats. The tracks build subtle and then crash into wide-open, heavy electronics that throw back to both screamo early-aughts and bands like Depeche Mode, with plenty of room to grow.
