If at first you don’t succeed… well, you know what they say. Just when we thought we had made it through music festival season with our wits still minimally intact, we hear from our friends over at local music and culture zine NadaMucho.com that they’re “not” having a festival.
After their – self-professed – widely unsuccessful festival attempt with last year’s #41for2015Fest, they’re taking a break. Instead, they’re hosting three days worth of local artists – culled from their own lists of “41 We’re Watching” in both 2015 and 2016 – on two rotating stages at Frelard’s Substation, October 21-23. And get this, neither Substation or NadaMucho.com are taking any house or promoter fees. You heard it right, 100% of door sales will be split evenly between bands. So no complaining about artists not getting a fair festival cut.
“This is not some community-minded hippie love gathering or any of that,” adds publisher Matt Ashworth. “We’re not going to have changing tables or recycling bins or any of that shit. Just three days of the best new bands in Seattle bashing it out in a good old fashioned dirty rock club… a rock club with good sound and cold drinks.”
There’s some pretty great bands cashing in on the opportunity here too. Check out the full lineup below, including headliners WILD Powwers, Donormaal, and Hell Mary. Just show up and discover some new music. You don’t have to order a fancy wristband. This isn’t a festival.
