Charming Liars
Columbia City Theater, Seattle, WA
09.01.16
A twenty-something – and noticeably female-based – crowd gathered at Columbia City Theater to see LA-based alt-rock band Charming Liars, and everyone present was singing along to every song. Vocalist Kiliyan Maguire brought the crowd’s energy to another level of excitement, his versatile vocals highlighting well-crafted hooks and grooving melodies. The sound was on point for being in a theater, and it made the Maguire’s voice sound super clean. Against a back drop of red curtains, all four members of the band had tons energy and it felt like they could play forever. Maguire would come to the edge of the stage and point out to people in the crowd during the song “Burn.” In between songs asking everyone if they were doing good and still having a good time. At one point he wanted everyone to come in closer right in front of the stage. They obliged, and the punchy show didn’t disappoint.
