I Thought The Future Would Be Cooler, the latest in a string of cosmic-pop releases from Portland bred, Los Angeles based twosome YACHT, takes a stand. Known for their fresh electro-pop, Claire Evans and Jona Bechtolt have something to say, and they’re reaching out to their fans using a variety of media old and new, from billboards to fax machines, GIFs to drone video. These creative promotions are a testament to the band’s thoughtfulness about our cultural past, present, and future. And after a four-year break since their last full-length, the new album ruminates on the same. Brashly fatalistic, YACHT’s inescapable interplanetary disco is still pretty fun.
Opening for YACHT is the talented Larry Gus who just released his new LP I Need New Eyes earlier this month! Be sure to settle in early and check him out! [SoundCloud him!]
