Zigzagging the country on a 26-date stint, Los Angeles melodic hardcore band The Ghost Inside made a stop on Tuesday night at El Corazon in Seattle. Dubbed The Locals Only Tour, this group made it their mission to spotlight local talent around the country, giving small names a chance to open for them; knowing that each night could be hit or miss, let’s give this band some credit for pulling for the cause. The Ghost Inside has released four albums, the most current being 2014’s Dear Youth, which topped out at 63 on Billboard. Not too shabby, and for good reason.
The four members were accompanied by a fifth touring musician, and it seems as though they all tried to bring a little bit of that California sunshine along with them. Their stage was decorated with tropically themed props, from blowup sharks and coconut trees to a blowup pirate. A huge banner displaying their name and their signature triangle logo plastered the back of the stage. In an effort to streamline the evening, all of the bands shared equipment, which forwarded their opening time by a solid half hour. The Ghost Inside played for a seemingly effortless ninety minutes, calling curtain and then proceeding with two encore songs. Wrapping up their set, singer Jonathan Vigil welcomed crowd members onto the stage with him, as kids were screaming their hearts out and enveloping the quintet in warm, appreciative hugs. Hardcore or not, smiles were random and frequent at this show. The Ghost Inside is certainly a unique band, putting on an engaging, meaningful set. They will be touring through November, and it’s highly recommended that you check them out if you have the opportunity.
