For Today w/ Fit For A King, Gideon, Phinehas, Silent Planet
El Corazon, Seattle, WA
10.26.15

Patrons got the most of their tickets on Monday night at El Corazon when they were treated to a nearly two hour set by Iowa-based Christian metal band For Today. Skimming the middle bits and heading west, For Today is out and about promoting their latest album Wake with an album release tour, in part and in no small degree celebrating full length number six. 2015 also marks a decade of passion and purpose for this band, one in which they’ve seen respectable success in their category, in addition to overcoming the inherent ups and downs that all groups face. Tonight, as El Corazon breathed excitement from wall to wall, their banner could barely be contained in the packed quarters; “For Today” seemed larger than life, its white letters so big that it dwarfed the stage. Beams and strobes of red and purple and blue filled the electric air. Every member of the band played with intensity throughout the set, as lead man Mattie Montgomery took multiple excursions down into the crowd, handing lucky fans the mic for an impromptu singing fest. Almost two hours in, For Today played one encore song, putting an end to a priceless evening.
