Watkins Family Hour
Tractor Tavern, Ballard, Seattle, WA
08.22.15
Absent of an opener and with little opening fan fare, Watkins Family Hour founders Sara Watkins and Sean Watkins took the stage. Performing a tune that hearkens back to fields of bluegrass and drinking iced tea on an old porch, they swept the crowd into their musical getaway. Since the show, I have been asked several times how Fiona’s performance was; Yes, Fiona performed on several songs and sounded just as invested and appreciative of the music as Sara and Sean. There’s no doubt that she would not perform in something she wasn’t passionate about, and the crowd showed their love. Once the whole band took the stage and really opened things up, the toes were tapping and people were clapping. The Watkins Family hour also had local legendary Seattle musician and politician John Roderick perform with them as a special guest. The Watkins Family Hour certainly delivered exactly what their music promises: a good time with sweet tunes and good people.
