All Time Low w/ Issues, Tonight Alive, and State Champs

It seems rare these days to go to a concert chock-full of bands you want to see, but it seems as if every All Time Low tour that comes through Seattle arrives with a full lineup of bands to look forward to. Their most recent trip to the Emerald City for their Future Hearts Tour was no different. Along for the ride was opening band and youngsters State Champs, Australia’s best female-fronted punk rock band Tonight Alive, and hardcore and Pokémon goofs Issues. They all bring a different sound, and all of them gave the night of May 6th something special.
But at the end of the night (even though the show was ridiculously early in the afternoon), it was All Time Low that stole the show. With the release of their 6th record in 11 years, this might be their most mature album and performance to date. Opening up the night was their slow ballad and opening track to Future Hearts, “Satellite.” Heavy white backlighting created cool sun bursts, complementing the slow and dark nature of the song. Different from most All Time Low songs, it was merely a momentum-building song, because from there on everything was high energy and flying bras. Not just a few – almost a dozen bras were thrown onto the stage during the first two songs and strung onto the mic stand of lead guitarist Jack Barakat. Often considered to be the kids of Blink-182, these rowdy and absurd young pop-rocks sure put on a show without a care in the world… and that’s what’s so lovable about them. Authentic to who they are – goofy, and simply just having the time of their life. It shows in their music, stage presence, and of course their dedicated fanbase. From the first time I heard their poppy tunes, it’s no wonder why I’ve been a huge fan.
