Preview: The Bright Light Social Hour w/Talk In Tongues & Duke Evers
Tractor Tavern, Ballard, WA
05.08.15
Taking a lens to the ostensibly gritty realities of their generation, and thematically progressing through issues of aesthetic, personal and socio-political nature, Austin’s The Bright Light Social Hour are offering up an innovative, neo-psych-rock statement. Having swept SXSW with their first, self-titled album and toured heavily throughout North America, the band is now out in support of their sophomore release Space is Still the Place.
TBLSH brings their mind-melding genre mash-up to Seattle next weekend, where you can contemplate their “Future South” dichotomy. A mix of influences ranging from Motown to deep house, afro-rock to dance, TBLSH somehow manage to create an infectiously cohesive sound all their own. Expect bluesy reverb, soaring melodies and a rhythmic pulse that you can’t help but dance to.
Openers Talk in Tongues and Seattle locals Duke Evers make this a can’t-miss lineup.
