Marilyn Manson

So, kids… Marilyn Manson gave Seattle a visit on Thursday night… And, to be perfectly clear – it was rad.
A ubiquitous fog began pumping through the front of the house at a quarter after ten. Then the lights went dim. Then Mozart began to play…
In nothingness of shadows and smoke, Manson and co. took the stage and went right into “Deep Six.” Afterward, booming on the mic: “Seattle, Seattle, Seattle, Seattle! It’s very tight quarters… I don’t have any intimacy issues… You are not the thing you used to be! Give me a hallelujah! But most of all, you’re not disposable!” Such as he did, with a segue into a few of the songs on their set list, performing next, “Disposable Teens.” Most likeable of all, he did not shy away from conversation and interaction with the crowd. His mannerisms were polite, controlled, and charged with purpose. Nonchalantly, he strolled into the pit, sitting atop the crowd during “mOBSCENE.” Afterward, he stammered, “I need a drink. See, this is the problem with prohibition…” to which he gave one lucky crowd member a shot.
With plenty to say about shitty cities and his father’s favorite song, Manson screamed his way through the night, beating on bass drums and throwing sticks into the crowd. Before going into “The Dope Show,” he addressed Seattle: “Seattle… It’s really actually good to be in Seattle – let me hear it! Let me hear it for yourselves… I think if you Wikipedia Seattle, one of the most relative attractions is the dope.” Well, at least we’re known for something, um, good.
The encore began at 11:38, with flowers draped about the mic stand. New outfit, with hat and cape and all, Manson never let up, and absolutely left the crowd wanting more. “Coma White” was the sole encore song.
Los Angeles duo Deap Vally opened this evening, starting their set with their single, “End of the World.” Comprised of two ladies, this band makes plenty of good, wholesome noise that you should go and check out. Their debut album, Sistrionix, released in 2013, has already built quite a reputation.

Oh the beautiful madness! I was sadly to late to get tickets. Beings it was sold out very quickly. I have tried for years to get a ticket for a show. But haven’t been quick enough. I am truly empowered by his music. One day I hope to witness it.
He is about to tour with the Smashing Pumpkins, hope you get to see him then!
