Bad Religion w/ OFF! and The Hollowpoints
Showbox Sodo, Seattle, WA
03.24.15
The intellect, the driving guitars, the bursting melodies – all were present Tuesday night for the unsurprisingly sold out Bad Religion show. The classic Southern California punk rock band packed the Showbox Sodo with their densely charged sound as both new and old fans alike pumped their fists in the air and kept up a massive pit for the entirety of their set.
For a band rolling through their 35th year, Bad Religion hasnât lost a step, tearing down any ideas you might have had about punk music being a young gunâs game. Their frenetically brilliant musicianship and immaculate delivery, combined with an artfully prepared set list, made for a ferociously pleasing show.
Crowd favorites like âStranger Than Fictionâ and the propulsive âFuck Youâ had the crowd rallying from the get go â the band completely in their element â and the stripped-down, heartrending âSorrowâ had everyone in the palms of their hands. The celebrations of social dissent and the search for purpose are just as relevant today as they were thirty years ago, as we all grapple together with the constraints and absurdities of modern life.
Openers Off! and Seattle locals The Hollowpoints made for a conclusively impressive night.
