Face paint, flashing lights, and one big, two-day dance party went down at the Neptune Theatre, as they hosted new wave dance rockers Walk The Moon on their Talking is Hard tour. With a new, more mature sound and a classically adolescent album, their set was a mix of juicy pop songs and inspired, deeper songs. Taking the more sophisticated, yet super catchy new songs like “Different Colors,” and my personal all-time favorite “Down in the Dumps,” their growth really shows since the days of their self-titled album. Their sing-along, danceable tracks “Shut up and Dance” and “Avalanche” really brought the most out of the crowd, who screamed every word of every song.

Having seen Walk the Moon two previous times, some of the show has stayed the same. Introducing each song similarly – always having a positive vibe, and loads of energy – there were times that I wished they could have introduced the song in a newer, more exciting way. But with so many incredible new songs, there was always something different on the set list. Even their final encore song, “Anna Sun,” sounded revitalized, but that could just be because that song never gets old.
