Florida Georgia Line

The stigma of country music was washed away years ago, when I was lucky enough to catch southern duo Florida Georgia Line perform during my senior year at WSU. Before that, I freely admit that songs with a twang had made me cringe a little. However, I turn the radio dial now for a different reason: the tin-filled airwaves simply don’t do Florida Georgia Line justice. Their live performance has spoiled me.
Ten thousand fans screamed for nearly two hours Monday night, with FGL kicking off the last week of the State Fair. As a giant inflatable bottle of Fireball Whisky made its way to the stage, singers Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard made good on their reputation, taking their turn with a healthy swig before passing it on. From a real bottle, that is. They played a varied mix of beloved hits and new tracks, including “Dirt,” which took precious little time to top Billboard’s country chart this summer. Their sophomore album, Anything Goes, is scheduled for release on October 14. You can catch these guys running towards the sunshine, as they finish their last leg of the Burn It Down tour in Dallas on October 25.
