Later in the afternoon on this warm fathers day/warped tour saw Forever The Sickest Kids take take to the Tilly’s Stage. Not having played Warped Tour since 2009, it was a nice break in the day to hear some simple yet over the top pop music. The release of their third album came with some fresh new music to the show. Myself, I wore out their previous records and enjoyed hearing some new music. Looking for some of Warped Tours 2013 best pop music, look no further then Forever The Sickest Kids.
August Burns Red had a beach party on stage and through out the crowd on the Main Stage during their stint at Portland. While their post hardcore music is not the typical beach party music, on Warped Tour its the perfect type of music. On the best day every themed warped tour, the fans of August Burns Red made a massive appearance in front of the main stage. For an entertaining day at Warped Tour don’t miss August Burns Red beach party.
My most anticipated band to see at this year Warped Tour had to be hands down Tonight Alive. All the way from Australia, this punk pop band is one of a kind to the numerous other bands on Warped Tour. With just one album under their belt and a new one in the works this band have exploded in popularity across the U.S. Compared often to sounding similar to former Warped Tour veterans Paramore, Tonight Alive offer more of a punk rock sound and vibe then Paramore’s pop sounds. If there is just one band you need to see it is Tonight Alive.
After a tough break up, forming of a new band, and rejoining his Chiodos Craig Owens is back where he belongs and it could not be better. After the split of singer/front man Owens from Chiodos in 2009 my interest in their music was gone. I believe after a band loses its singer the entire band should break up. Now with Owens back as the lead singer it is like Chiodos is back from the grave. Back from the grave and back on Warped Tour 2013. All Chiodos fans will sure to be crowd around the Main Stage to get a glimpse of some new music which is set to be released in early 2014. I was excited to see the original Chiodos back together and so were the screaming fans.
On their rare day of Warped Tour it also happened to be fathers day. Children debating wether to attend the tour of enjoy the day with their fathers was undiscussed when Kevin Lyman, founder of the Vans Warped Tour, made an announcement on his twitter account allowing all father to come to Warped Tour for free. A generous act made so father and their children could enjoy what would be the ‘best day ever’ for the both of them. One to embrace fathers day the most was Sleeping With Sirens front man Kellin Quinn, dressed in a number #1 Dad shirt. Born in Medford Oregon this was some what of a home town show for him and meant he got to see his daughter. A special fathers day for Sleeping with Sirens front man it must have been.
I didn’t manage to catch the whole set of Goldfinger but if the performance of their last two songs was just as good as the first then they would defiantly be worth catching. I mean just look at the photo below. That is someone’s grandpa standing in the crowd singing. If they can still preform at this level, that shows some serious passion.
