Wednesday night was a night for reggae and good vibes at the WSU Senior Ballroom. Three bands performed on this mid semester night: Hot Rain, J Boog and Rebelution.
As the concert commenced the first performance by the Hawaiian band, Hot Rain, set the fun-lively mood with songs from the band’s 2011 self-titled album. The crowd’s excitement was fueled by the engaging performance especially when Hot Rain gave a shout out to the heavier set ladies with their song “Heavy Weight Love”. The crowd’s mood continued to be lively during the rest of Hot Rain’s performance as sound of live instruments gave life to the Senior Ballroom.
The vibe was turned up as J Boog took the stage; the crowd was excited for the performance as many fans sang along to the words during the opening song. The sound of the reggae drums and keyboard was synced with the mood of the concert, lively and full of a good Island vibe. The song “Let’s Do It Again” from J Boog’s Album “Major Riddim” was well received by the crowd and was sure to create new fans. J Boog was engaging with the crowd especially the two other singers who gave a great mix to the soft-voiced mood. As J Boog left the stage the crowd was left with the good mood vibes created by the performance.
Excitement was created as the rest of the stage was exposed for the themed “Winter Greens Tour”. The mood of the crowd went from a chill vibe to exciting angst as the headlining band Rebelution took the stage opening with “Bright Side of Life”, the song’s guitar intro was a great refection on the crowd’s mood when the sound of the duet saxophone and drums started the song off. The song “So High” brought the mood to an enjoyable slow vibe as many cougars engaged with lead singer Eric Rachmany’s comment “Pullman has the herb when I’m dry” by shouting in approval. The crowd was also uplifted with Rachmany’s comment on how Rebelution stands for diversity, together the vibe was elevated and remained so for the rest of the concert and at the after party hosted by Stubblefields.
