San Diego based Christian band Switchfoot have been writing and preforming songs for nearly 15 years now and have produced almost eight studio records. So when I arrived at the Spokane County Fair Grandstand for the outdoor concert I was expecting to hear some great music and see a great performance. Not exactly great tho…IT WAS INCREDIBLE and ENERGETIC!!!

The show started out perfect from my stand point. My favorite song off their new album is the opening track ‘Afterlife’, and it was also the first song their played to open the show. Just a few minutes into the show I learned that front man Jon Foreman does not play guitar during every song so had the great opportunity to walk back and forth along the stage. I thought for sure he would just stay on the stage and maybe climb up the stage support on the side. But with 15 years of experience I should have expected Foreman to be a little more creative. After all he had an entire grandstand to his disposal. Of course it took Foreman only four songs before he was off the stage and walking through the crowd shaking hands with the fans. Climbing to the upper level of the mini stadium he made is rounds of the crowd. Once the song had ended he ran back to the stage to reunite with his band mates. Preforming a mix of older songs off their previous hit records and soon to be release/highly anticipated record Vice Verses the rest of the night got better and better as it went on. Near the end of the concert, again front man Jon Foreman went to the crowd to show his appreciation and love for their fans.

After only leaving the stage for a few minutes the band returned for a encore. Playing a new song that the band has yet to play outside the studio and a older song finished off the night that many of the fans will not soon forget. Be sure to pick up Switchfoot’s new record Vice Verse on September 27th nation wide. And do not forget that Switchfoot is going on tour on September 22nd through October 21st with supporting act Anberlin. If the show put on by Switchfoot at the Spokane County Fair was any indication of the performance planned for their upcoming tour I am not sure why you would not attend.
